THERAPEUTIC YOGA

The therapeutic word attracts us like a magnet. On the one hand it has the promise of a relief for our sorrows, and on the other it makes us admit that we suffer such penalties. But let us admit that by therapeutic is understood all that is capable of transforming a negative state of our being into something more beneficial and harmonious. Then the object of therapy is very varied. It can be from the aromas, to the music, from the walks to the dance. We have plastic arts, verbal communication, substances of some kind, food or the pleasure of some drink. The display of sensitivity and quality of the senses. What I ... even the work itself or the assumption of the everyday, can be a source of therapy.

In itself, the practice of Yoga is always therapeutic, if the intention is such. Because there are people who take this practice as a model of "control" and absent from reality that instead of beneficial is quite the opposite.

Yoga, practiced with humility and love, and a sufficient dose of trust transforms the being complete, and it does so in the four slopes in which the human being develops.

Intellectual Plan

It stimulates conscious attention, freeing the intellect of what I call "noise." Then we can come to distinguish the quality of our associated thoughts and images. We do not try to push or rape them. We simply become aware of the content. That work improves memory. It enriches the quality of the intellectual world. It increases the sensitivity that helps us to apprehend the world with all the senses. It facilitates the work of learning any subject, be it intellectual, spatial or manual. It helps us to organize and use our flow of thoughts, which in the end always lead us to action. And above all, it introduces us to the access to the Void, which is where our whole being emanates.

Emotional Plan

Yoga Therapy stimulates emotional equanimity and harmony in the world of our affections. Emotions tend to "move," and push us in all directions. Thought and emotion manifest almost in unison, confusing our soul for action. By feeling greater intellectual clarity we can consciously accept and receive our emotions, and without letting them act, let them flow like water from a source. Thus we leave compulsive behaviors, and we enter into reflexive behaviors, with much more capacity for decision. We all often feel the evil influence of the terrible mill-wheel of "thought-that generates emotion-that-generates-to-it-again thoughts" and makes us vulnerable to neurosis and physical and mental exhaustion.

Body-Physical Plan

It promotes a stronger and more harmonious state in our whole physical being. Therefore the universe of matter that surrounds us. The world of everyday things no longer seems so threatening. We can achieve greater impetus. Mental clarity. Will of action and peace of mind, which translates into a highly improved quality of life. In the case of suffering chronic or temporary ailments is wonderfully effective to alleviate them.

Creative-Sexual

Before we are nothing we are sexual beings. From the cradle to the grave. We fall in love not only with people, but with ideas, thoughts, cultures, material things, and transform our world. This ability to keep the transformations afloat is generated by the sexual potency, of which the desires, the will, the vital enthusiasm, and the need to survive is basic. When they fail, we are out of sorts and unwilling to live. Boredom invades us and life is empty and dry. Yoga strengthens that capacity, and when by illness or old age our strengths fail, it finds a multitude of supports in our spirituality, from which emanates all that we are.

Tips to start your Yoga practice!

Yoga is like the ocean. When you go to the beach, you can see the sea from afar, walk along the water's edge, soak your feet, or take a bath. The same goes for yoga - either practicing the asanas for a short period of time to get rid of a disease, practicing daily postures or committing to the study of yoga on a deeper level. Each experience will give you satisfaction.

Yoga is a gateway to spiritual growth. To experience the true essence of yoga, it is beneficial to learn from a professional instructor.

It is beneficial to follow one yoga discipline at a time. Practicing techniques from different disciplines causes confusion and hinders spiritual progress.

The following tips will help you in creating a positive experience:
Before the first step, as with any other exercise program, check with your doctor.

In Yoga class

• Wear comfortable clothing that is appropriate for temperature.
• Avoid wearing belts and jewelry in class: they restrict the proper flow of prana (vital energy) and get in the way when you practice postures.
• Do not use any scented product.
• Do not eat for at least three hours before class.

Basic rules for practice

- The philosophy and techniques taught in the yoga class may be new to you. Keeping an open mind will expand and enhance your yoga experience.
- Only do the postures with which you feel comfortable. Forcing you to do a posture can cause injury. With regular practice yoga, you will be able to expand your abilities.
- Yoga postures should be stable and pleasurable. With practicing yoga postures, you may experience some pain in your muscles. This is fine as long as there is no pain. Pain is a sign of excessive force, or lack of form and alignment. Focus the posture with gentleness and patience. With gradual and consistent practice you will be able to improve your body alignment.
- Each student is on a different level. No two people perceive and experience yoga in the same way. There is no competition in yoga. Stay with your own experience in a non-critical way.
- Do not combine your practice in class with other techniques you may have learned from other disciplines.
- Keep the sanctity of the yoga room, refraining from gossiping and talking unnecessarily.

When the body is not in good condition

Listen to your body and let common sense be your guide. If you feel the weak body, do the postures gently. Breath deeply. Practicing Yoga gently can help you recover faster. However, do not do the postures and breathing exercises if you have a fever. Let your instructor know of any medical conditions that may be of concern to you. Always seek medical advice.

28 YOGA BENEFITS

We are going to present the translation of an extremely interesting article by American doctor Timothy Mc Call. As we know, Yoga techniques have been the subject of multiple experiments aimed at corroborating their incidence on the nervous system, the heart rate and its capacity to generate a beneficial state in the cure of various ailments. Its potential to change depressive moods into stronger ones. The reality is that in all areas, it produces a considerable improvement not only in health, but often even changes the way people live. Of all is known the exploits that certain yogis perform by burying themselves underground and remaining hibernated with vital signs to a minimum for days. Or the way meditation affects the brain, showing drastic changes in electroencephalographic waves. But all this is left in a laboratory and it is difficult for someone who has normal yogi qualities to feel or do it. We really want to know how the practice of Yoga beneficially affects. With quantifiable results and above all affordable to practitioners ..

Through his personal experience as a person suffering from a nervous illness and his studies and learning with the best doctors in medicine and yoga of India, Timothy Mc Call presents us in a very practical way, 38 reasons why we will either feel Happy to enter into this discipline, or if we are curious we will venture to begin it. This is what he found.

1.- General flexibility
Improving flexibility is one of the first clearest benefits in practice to Yoga. During the first class, you probably will not be able to touch the tips of the feet with your hands, let alone make arcs back. But if one puts it into action, one will notice a gradual loosening, and eventually, some postures that seemed impossible, will be possible at last. the disappearance of pain and tension will also be noticeable. That is not a coincidence. Tight hips can constrict the knee joint due to improper alignment of the femur in the thigh with the shins. Tense hamstring muscles can lead to unnatural flattening of the lumbar spine, which can cause pain. And inflexibility in muscles and connective tissues, such as fascia (wrapping of muscle bundles) and ligaments, can cause deforming posture.

2.- Force Test
Strong muscles do more than look good. They also protect us from ailments like arthritis and back pain and help prevent falls in the elderly. And when you have gained strength through Yoga, it is balanced with flexibility. In the event that you go to a gym to lift weights with the intention of "muscle building", you will achieve strength at the expense of flexibility.

3.- Head in Line
Your head is like a bowling ball, big, round and heavy. When it is well balanced, directly on an erect spine, the muscles of the neck and back use much less effort to support it. Move a few millimeters forward, however, and you will begin to feel a tension in those muscles. Keep that heavy billiard ball down for twelve hours and you will not be surprised to feel fatigued. And fatigue is not just the only problem. Poor posture can cause injuries and ailments in the neck, back, other muscles and joints. As the head collapses, the body can compensate by flattening the normal curve of the neck and lower back. This can cause degenerative pain and arthritis in the spine.

4.- The joints are fed
Each time Yoga is practiced, the joints are carried to a full range of motion. This can help prevent degenerative arthritis and mitigate this condition through the "sponge effect" of areas of cartilage that are not normally used. The cartilage of the joints is like a sponge; Receives fresh nutrients only when the fluids are "chopped" and a new supply is "absorbed" by them. Without proper maintenance, the abandoned areas of the cartilage can eventually become fatigued, exposing the bone below to become a kind of "worn brake shoes."

5.- Nourished backbone
The vertebral discs, absorbers of trauma between the vertebrae, can be herniated and compress nerves, they "adore" the movement. This is the only way they can get their nutrients. If you work a good and equlibrada batch of openings and folds, both forward and backward, combined with twisting, that will help provide food and keep the vertebrae loose and healthy.

6.- Improve Bone Mass
It is well documented that weight-bearing exercises strengthen bones and prevent or even eliminate osteoporosis. Many Yoga postures require one to lift one's own weight, and hold it partially in different joints. Some like the Dog Head Down or the Dog
Head up greatly strengthen the arms and shoulders that are very susceptible to fractures due to osteoporosis. In an unpublished study from California State University, Los Angeles, it was shown that the practice of Yoga intensified the density of vertebrate bones. Yoga's ability to lower stress hormone levels, cortisol (see number 11) can help preserve calcium in bones.

7.- Improvement of Circulation
Yoga causes blood to flow. More specifically, relaxation exercises that are learned in Yoga can help the circulation, especially of the feet and hands. Yoga carries more oxygen to the cells, which work with better results. Torsion postures are designed to "drain" venous blood from internal organs and allow oxygenated blood to flow toward them when the posture is released. Inverted postures, such as Inversion on the Hands, Head or Shoulders (The Candle for example), urge the venous blood from the hips and legs to flow into the heart from where it is released into the lungs to be oxygenated And refreshed. This is very helpful if you suffer from swelling in your legs due to heart or kidney problems. Yoga also improves levels of hemoglobin and red cells, which carry oxygen to tissues. In addition, it thins the blood making the platelets are less sticky and cutting the level of coagulating proteins in the blood. This helps to decrease the incidence of heart attacks and heart attacks, since the clots are often the cause of them.

8.- Lymph flows
When the muscles are contracted and stretched, the surrounding organs move, and when entering and leaving the Yoga postures, the lymph drainage (a viscous fluid rich in immune cells) is increased. This helps the lymphatic system to fight off infections, destroy cancer cells and get rid of waste products that deerivan the cells functioning.

9.- Heart to point
When you take heart rhythms regularly when performing aerobic exercises, they are found to be good for decreasing the risk of heart attack and relieving depressions. We already know that not all Yoga is aerobic, but if it is performed vigorously, by moving Yoga, or chained asanas, (for example the Ashtanga Yoga type), you can train the heart to strengthen within a constant aerobic. But even if this increase in aerobic effort was not made, and it was quieter, what happens often in Yoga, asanas and breathing exercises can increase the improvement of cardiovascular conditions. Studies have shown that yoga practice lowers the heartbeat at rest, increases its strength and increases its potential for oxygen supply during exercise, which shows that it is enormously beneficial even if you are practicing a sport. Another study has also found that subjects who practiced Pranayama (Yoga breathing techniques) were able to perform more exercise with less oxygen supply.

10.- Lowering of Blood Pressure
If you have high blood pressure you can benefit greatly from the practice of Yoga. Two studies of people with hypertension, published in the British medical journal The Lancet, compared the effects of the Savasana posture (Conscious Deep Relaxation posture) with the act of lying down on a couch. After three months, Savasana was associated with 26 drop points in the systolic pressure (the high numbering) and 15 points of decrease in the diastolic pressure (the low) and the higher the initial "high" pressure, the decrease was more accused.

11.-Decrease of the level of Cortisol (stress hormone)
Yoga lowers the level of cortisol. If that does not sound like a big deal, think about it. Normally, the adrenal glands secrete cortisol in response to an acute crisis, which temporarily depresses the immune system. If cortisol levels remain high even after the crisis has passed, they can compromise the immune system. Temporally, cortisol "kicks" help keep long-term memory strong, but high levels of cortisol chronically weaken memory and can cause permanent changes in the brain. In addition, high cortisol levels are related to depression, osteoporosis (it extracts calcium and other minerals from the bones and interferes with their absorption), high blood pressure and insulin resistance. In rats, high cortisol levels lead to what researchers call "compulsive food-seeking behavior (the same thing you feel when you are depressed, angry, or stressed). The body takes those extra calories and distributes them as fat in the abdomen, contributing to gain weight with risk of diabetes and a heart attack.

12. It is the happy hour
You feel sad?. Sit in the lotus posture. Even better. You get up and stretch yourself a bow back or you put yourself in aristocratic posture of the Dancing King. Well ... although it is not as simple as that, one study has found that consistent Yoga practice improved depressive states and produced a significant increase in the level of serotonin and a decrease in levels of monoamine oxidase (an enzyme that negates neurotransmitters) And cortisol. At the University of Wisconsin, Richard Dadivson, MD, found that the left prefrontal cortex increased its activity in meditators, an encounter that has been correlated with higher levels of happiness and improved immune system function. Positive side effects have been observed in veteran practitioners.

13.- Question of weight
Move more and eat less. This is the adage of anyone who diets. Yoga can help on both fronts. A regular practice sets you in motion and helps you burn calories, and the spiritual and emotional dimensions of your practice can encourage you to eat less and regulate weight problems at a deeper level. Yoga can also inspire you to become more conscious in eating habits.

14.-Low Enemy Indexes (sugar, cholesterol ..etc ..)
Yoga reduces the level of sugar in the blood and LDL ("bad" cholesterol) and increases HDL ("good") cholesterol levels. It has been found that in people with diabetes who practice yoga, the sugar level has decreased in several ways: Reducing cortisol and adrenaline, promoting weight loss and improving sensitivity to the effects of insulin. Lowering sugar levels will reduce the risk of complications such as heart attack, kidney failure and blindness.

15.- Brain waves
An important component of Yoga is focusing on oneself in the present. Studies have found that regular practice improves coordination, reaction time, memory and even IQ levels. People who practice Transcendental Meditation have demonstrated a greater ability to solve problems and gather and recall information, probably because they are less distracted by their thoughts which they can disturb over and over again like an endless tape.

15.- Nervous Centers
Yoga stimulates relaxation, slows breathing and focuses on the present by harmonizing the balance between the sympathetic nervous system (the fleeing or fighting response), and the parasympathetic nervous system. The latter is soothing and restorative; Herbert Benson, Ph.D., in Medicine, calls the relaxation response. "It's not just a matter of time," Dr. Herbert Benson said.

16.- Nerve centers
Yoga stimulates relaxation, slows breathing and focuses on the present by harmonizing the balance between the sympathetic nervous system (the fleeing or fighting response), and the parasympathetic nervous system. The latter is soothing and restorative; Herbert Benson, Ph.D., in Medicine, calls the relaxation response. "It's not just a matter of time," Dr. Herbert Benson said.

17.- Equilibrium and Space Management
Regular yoga practice increases proprioception (the ability to sense what the body is doing and how it is located in space) and improves physical balance. People who have poor postures or dysfunctional movement patterns usually have a very poor sense of proprioception, which is linked to knee problems and back pain. An improvement in the balance could mean fewer falls. For older people, this translates into more independence and delay to assume the need to go to a nursing home and even have no need to go to any. For the rest of us, postures, such as The Tree can make us feel less enclenque.

18.- Control over the Neuralgic Centers
Some advanced yogis can control their bodies in extraordinary ways, many of which are directed by the nervous system. Scientists have monitored yogis who could induce themselves unusual heart rhythms, generate specific brain wave patterns and using meditation technique, raise the temperature of their hands to 15 degrees F. Only they can use Yoga to do that, perhaps We might learn to improve blood flow to the pelvis if a woman is trying to become pregnant or induce relaxation when she has insomnia problems.

19.- Release the muscles
Have you ever been aware of the deadly strain with which you hold the telephone handset or the steering wheel of the car, or how we constricted the face when we looked at the computer screen? These unconscious habits can lead to chronic tension, muscle fatigue, painful tenderness in the wrists, arms, shoulders, neck and face, which can increase stress and worsen mood. As you practice Yoga, you begin to realize where you keep the tensions: It can be on the tongue, the eyes, the muscles of the face and the neck. If you simply put one in touch with them, you can release tension from the tongue and eyes. With larger muscles such as quadriceps, trapezius or buttocks it may take a year of practice to learn how to release them.

20.- Restoration and Rest
Stimulation is good, but much attacks the nervous system. Yoga can provide help to mitigate the hysterical bustle of modern life.
The restorative asanas, Yoga Nidra (a form of guided relaxation), Savasana (posture of Deep Conscious Relaxation), pranayama (breathing techniques of Yoga), meditation that protects us from external stimuli, bringing the senses towards the "inside", Are "tools" that help us in our nervous system. Another "product", generated by the daily practice of Yoga in an improved sleep, which means, feeling less tired and less likely to suffer accidents.

21.- Immune System
Asanas (postures) and Pranayama (breathing techniques) probably improve the function of the immune system, but so far, it is meditation that takes the palm for the strongest credibility in the scientific field. It appears to have a beneficial effect on the immune system, enhancing it when necessary (eg raising antibody levels in response to vaccines) and lowering it when necessary (eg, mitigating inappropriate and aggressive immune function in autoimmune disease , As is psoriasis)

22.- Respiratory Capacity
Yogis tend to take fewer breaths with greater volume, which is calming and more efficient. In 1998, a study published in The Lancet, showed a breath known as (complete breathing) to people who had lung problems due to congestive heart failure. After one month, his average percentage of respiration dropped from 13.4 breaths per minute to 7.6. Meanwhile, his exercise capacity increased significantly, as did the saturation of oxygen in his blood. In sum, Yoga has shown us that it serves to improve in many ways, respiratory function, including maximum breath volume and exhaling efficiency. Yoga also promotes breath through the nose, which filters the air, warms it (cold air is considered a trigger for asthma attacks in people who are sensitive), and humidifies it, removing pollen and dirt and other Things that can penetrate the lungs.

23.- Anti-Constipation
Ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome and constipation are conditions that can be exacerbated by stress. So if you stress less, you will suffer less. Yoga, like any other physical exercise, can alleviate constipation, and theoretically reduce the risk of colon cancer, because by moving the body it facilitates faster transportation of food and waste products through the bowels. And although it has not been studied scientifically, yogis believe that torsion postures help to move waste in a fluid way.

24.- Peace of mind
Yoga "amansa" the fluctuations of the mind according to the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali. In other words, it reduces the vicious circles of thoughts about frustration, lamentation, anger, fear and desire, which cause stress.

25.- Improving self-esteem
Many of us suffer from chronic lack of self-esteem. If this is handled negatively (taking drugs, overeating, overworking, sleeping badly), you can pay a price with a depreciation of health in the physical, mental and spiritual. If these feelings are taken from a positive point of view and Yoga is practiced, it will be perceived in principle, as in a brief flash and later, in a broader view, that while you are in it, just as the Yoga philosophy Teach, you are a manifestation of the Divine. If you practice regularly with the intention of self-examination and improvement, (not just as a substitute for the aerobic class, you will have access to a different aspect of yourself.) You will experience feelings of gratitude, empathy and forgiveness, as well as Feeling of belonging to something greater.Although health is not a goal of spirituality, it is often a product of it, which has been documented by repeated scientific studies.

26.- Relief of Pain
Yoga can relieve pain. According to several studies, asanas (postures), Pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation or a combination of the three, reduce pain in people with arthritis, back pain, fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel syndrome and other chronic ailments . When you relieve pain, your mood improves, you are more willing to be active and you do not need so much medication.

27.- Treatment of the "Heat"
Yoga can help you make many changes in your life. In fact, that could be considered its greatest potential. Tapas, the Sanskrit word for "heat" is fire. The discipline that fuels the practice of Yoga and what that regular practice builds. The Tapas that you develop can be extended to the rest of your life, to overcome the inertia and to change the dysfunctional habits. You can discover that you can change things, without making a particular effort. You can start eating better, getting reactivated in physical exercise, or finally quitting after years of failed attempts.

28.- The Gifts of the Master
Good yoga teachers can do wonders with your health. The exceptional ones do more than guide you through the postures. They can adjust them, instruct you when to deepen them, or teach you to face a personal truth, or to fill you with love and compassion for yourself. They can help you relax and empower and personalize your practice. A respectful relationship with the Yoga teacher takes us very far in promoting good health.

There's no denying the fact that becoming pregnant will alter a woman's regular yoga schedule, not to mention her entire life. While a pregnant woman may not be able to participate in yoga with the same frequency that she did before becoming pregnant, or participate in all of the exercises as she might have done before, but she can still enjoy some of the benefits of yoga by making A few changes to her routine.

According to yoga instructors and medical experts, yoga can aid pregnant women by encouraging breathing and relaxation. Anyone who has participated in a child birthing class, especially Lamaze birthing class, is no doubt familiar with the importance of breathing exercises in the process. While there is more deliberate breathing exercises associated with a child birthing class (think the "hee hee hoo hoo" type of deliberate breathing), there is also the deep breathing exercises that are designed to relax and calm the body during delivery and is closely Related (if not directly related) to the types of breathing exercises taught in a yoga class.

By utilizing the moderate breathing exercises taught in yoga, expectant mothers can reap the benefits of relaxation at all stages of the pregnancy experience, from the pre-natal phase through labor to birth and afterwards. The breathing techniques connected to yoga can help calm the mind and body, eliminating physical and mental stress which can be harmful during pregnancy.

As stated, there are precautions that need to be taken by pregnant women when participating in yoga, many of them geared towards specific trimesters. The following are suggestions for how to incorporate yoga into each trimester of your pregnancy.

Women in the first trimester of pregnancy who regularly attend yoga classes should inform their instructor of their condition so that the instructor can suggest or help them with any modifications to the routines. And if you are pregnant and experiencing "morning sickness", do not feel guilty about pulling out of a class, skipping a few of the strenuous poses or moving to less difficult class. Take morning sickness as a signal that it's time for you to change your yoga routine.

On the other side, if you are a pregnant woman who has never taken part in a yoga class but you have heard about the benefits of yoga for pregnant women, you may wish to seek out a prenatal yoga class in your community. Many yoga studios today have special classes for pregnant women, where you can also consult with other expectant mothers in the class and share information. Even if you can not find prenatal yoga class in your community, do not fret; There are many videos and DVDs available on the subject of prenatal yoga that you can view and use in your home.

Yoga experts say there are specific poses and movements that are well-suited for women in their first trimester of pregnancy, movements that promote flexibility, particularly in the hip area that can help make the actual birth process easier. Yoga experts recommend expectant mothers practice poses such as the Triangle, Knee to Ankle, Warrior II, the Pigeon, Ardha Chandrasana and Baddha Konasana. Yoga instructors also recommend positions that can actually affect the birth process, such as Cat-Cow, in which the participant is on all fours, because it helps put the baby in the prime birthing position inside the woman's body. In a similar vein, yoga experts discourage pregnant women from performing poses that stretch the muscles, particularly the abdominals, too far, since pregnancy increases the production of the hormone relaxin, which softens connective tissue and allows the uterus to expand.

In the second trimester, morning sickness has usually passed and this is a perfect time for those who have never tried prenatal yoga to begin the practice. Regardless of the level of experience with yoga, expectant women who perform yoga at this stage of their pregnancy should use caution and refrain from exercising themselves or performing moves that require extreme stretching.

Experts recommend they refrain from jumping, jump-through or rolling in their transition between movements, but step or crawl instead. For instance, with a move such as the sun salutation, yoga instructors recommend that pregnant women keep their chest no more than 85 degrees from the floor in the forward position of the move and place their hands in front of their feet as opposed to the sides. Also, they recommend avoiding extreme twists which could cause placental abruption, poses that press the heel of the foot into the uterus while sitting or seated in the lotus and half-lotus positions unless you are able to keep the position loose and not twist the knees Too much

In the third trimester, an expectant mother will increase in size and her level of fatigue will change, which means she will have to alter her yoga participation. At this point in the pregnancy, the woman should avoid poses that compress the stomach and they should acknowledge their feelings of fatigue. In this trimester, they can keep participating in yoga, but only if they feel up to the task. If not, doing gentle stretching and calming breathing exercises will suffice.

At 36 weeks of pregnancy, women should limit the number of inversion poses they perform, such as Legs Up Against The Wall, Bridge Pose and Downward Dog. These moves may alter the position of the baby in a negative manner. The only exception for these positions is if the baby is currently in the breech position in the womb. In that situation, those poses may actually help turn the baby around.

Along with these recommendations, yoga experts have a few rules that pregnant women should heed when participating in yoga classes. Avoid participating in Bikram yoga, also known as "hot yoga". Studies show that overheating could adversely affect your pregnancy.

• Beginning with the second trimester, when the changes in your body can alter your center of gravity, perform standing poses with a chair for support or with your heels against a wall to reduce the chance of losing balance and becoming injured.

When bending forward, bend at the hips with the chest leading the way and extending the spine from the tailbone to the base of the skull. Bending in this manner gives the ribs more room to move and makes it easier to breath. If you are bending forward while seated, put a yoga strap or towel behind your ankles and hold the ends with both hands. As with the other move, bend from the hip and keep the chest elevated so that you avoid putting pressure on the abdominal section. Keep the legs open approximately hip width to give your stomach more room.

If you perform a twisting move or pose, twist from the shoulders and back as opposed to the waist and restrict your twisting to a position that is comfortable. This helps avoid putting pressure on the abdominal area.

Avoid backbends, one-leg balancing, handstands, headstands and upward bow movements.

Lastly, do not ignore the signals your body sends you. This is an amazing time in your life and yoga can help make pregnancy less stressful, less discomforting and even more peaceful.

Boost Yoga and Meditation Efforts With an Air Purifier? Absolutely!

Meditation has been used for thousands of years for various purposes and continues to be a valuable tool for many. One issue with meditation (and yoga) that needs to be addressed in our modern times is that most of meditate in their homes or another indoor space. That brings up the question of air quality and whether it is helping or hindering your efforts associated with your meditation.

Why is air quality so important to meditation and yoga? There are several reasons, but one of the main reasons is that the deep breathing exercises cause us to inhale pollutants more deeply than usual - pollutants found in nearly every home such as chemicals, dust mites, bacteria, mold spores and more. And while the deep breathing is great for oxygenating the body, deeply inhaling pollutants and germs is not.

And that's not the only issue. If you are trying to meditate or do your yoga and someone in the home smokes, without a good air purifier running, you'll be breathing those smoke pollutants, ash, tobacco pesticides, etc. that are not good for you, either- -more things to negatively affect your energy field, which is counterproductive. By using the right type of air purifier, however, you get a couple more great benefits. One is using the sound as something to focus on to help clear the mind. The other is the benefit of healthy negative OH-ions like those that are found in nature actually enhances the mediation experience.

Negative ions not only destroy airborne germs, but have also been shown in research to increase brain activity and contribute to a sense of well being, help reduce stress and more. So if you're looking for a way to get more out of your meditation or yoga practice, breathing clean air can certainly help you do that - and help keep you mental, physical and spiritual health in the foot by breathing germs And other pollutants. It makes no sense to work toward purification of body, mind and spirit while constantly adding pollution to our systems.

Do you have to choose an air cleaner that has negative ions? Certainly not. Cleaning up the air properly and using the sound to help with meditation and yoga is the main thing. A very good quality, affordable brand of air cleaner that does not release the Austin Healthmate Plus series with HEPA quality, carbon and prefilters for real air purification. With these units, you also get 5 year filters and a 5 year warranty.

If you do not want an air cleaner known for removing a large variety of pollutants (including smoke) while also providing the healthy negative ions, Blueair is an excellent brand. They offer good warranties, too, plus an air cleaner that is very quiet compared to others. Another great brand is Sun Pure TRIO with many of the same features, larger room coverage with one unit plus affordable pricing.

So give your mental, spiritual and physical health a boost by cleaning up your indoor air. Doing this has certainly worked wonders for me, and I think you'll find it helpful too.

Is Hot Yoga Good For Kids and Teens?

It seems like this hot secret is finally out: kids can benefit from hot yoga as much as adults. And even more.

As such, many hot yoga studios are seeing an increase in the attendance of young, PARTICULAR pre-teens.

At the physical level, yoga has been shown to improve physical flexibility, coordination and strength, all children who are less prone to injury on the playing field. And children of all ages play a lot of sports at school and after school, including college-level sports.

On an emotional level, children practice yoga which often show an increase in self-esteem. They are better able to concentrate on tasks and handle stress in school, including tests, homework, and a social life can become quite stressful as they enter the interpolation stage.

My two children started yoga with me when they were 14 and 17 years old (my daughter with me actually attended yoga when she was 5 years old, she started practicing goal is her own at age 14). Both are athletes - my daughter Carly plays softball and soccer league and is a cross-country driver and avid hiker. My son Zach is a black belt in karate and capoeira recently started.

My kids give them hot yoga credit with years of injury-free athletics.

I give credit with maintenance of my mental health throughout my teenage years.

What is hot yoga?

Traditional hot yoga 26 is performed in 105 degrees with 40% humidity, 26 pose sequence for 90 minutes.

The teacher takes care of keeping everyone safe and challenged to their maximum, so be sure: your children will be well taken care of in the heat.

The Benefits for Young Athletes

Children can play hard.

It is true that hot yoga improves flexibility, coordination and strength, all children who produce less prone to injuries on the playing field. That's one reason more and more high school coaches - soccer, baseball, soccer and hockey - are recommending their hot yoga to young athletes.

In addition, children practice often postponing increased self-esteem and are better able to manage stress. Including tests, homework, and a comprehensive after-school calendar.

And what adolescent would not benefit from a large dose of self-direction?

Yoga-children Aussi tends to better handle emotional challenges with patience and tolerance, and, let's say the word L: love.

At what age can children do hot yoga?

In my opinion as a yoga teacher, 10 years is approximately the earliest a young student can completely manage the stamina and balance, as well as acclimatization to the heat needed to enjoy the warm 90 minutes full class.

They make sour drink lots of water - half their body weight in ounces - so they go to class already well hydrated.

Should parents bring their children to yoga? A heated debate ...

I love watching parents and their children do hot yoga together and bonding through a sweaty class.

Even when preteens or teens have little in common with their parents, they can still enjoy this challenge together. Being warriors together in yoga class can offer a respite from struggling among other comments.

A warning to parents: stop being a relative while you are in class with your children! Do not appropriate, scold em, not - even your litter where you can see them - Otherwise the temptation of in relative will be too great.

Let the yoga teacher handle everything in the class; Enjoy your practice and let your child enjoy it.

Yoga teaches balance, body control, which even teaches attention and concentration. These yoga-inspired traits are something that every young person can take up to adulthood and become lifelong habits for happiness and success.

And a reminder of the value of patience and love itself and a time when his body was much more flexible, are great for the child than all of us, adults, too.
